Douro Boys showered with accolades
Revista de Vinhos, Portugal’s most influential wine magazine, holds a star-studded gala – known as the ‘Portuguese wine Oscars’ – once each year. On the 12th of February, more than 1000 guests hailed and celebrated the stars of the domestic winemaking scene at a venue that is nothing short of spectacular: the Sangalhos velodrome, one hour’s drive south of Oporto.
And by the time the evening drew to a close, the Douro Boys had collected fifteen individual awards. This serves to underscore yet again the fact that their tireless efforts are on the right track, achieving the finest quality in wine while pursuing an attentive engagement with the precious traditions, landscape and culture of the Douro Valley. Certainly appropriate, that they are regarded as the standard-bearers for Portuguese wine.
