So, who are the Douro Boys?
First off, we will admit that the five winemakers that make up the Douro Boys are no longer “boys”, but fully-grown men. Also, the women behind the scenes play no less important roles.

They are the boys of Quinta do Vallado, Niepoort, Quinta do Crasto, Van Zellers and Co. and Quinta do Vale Meão.

What started as a group of like-minded friends quickly morphed into a globally acclaimed project. Since 2003 the five wine producers from the Douro region have worked together with one goal: to go beyond their already famous port wines and produce the best dry reds and white table wines, collectively showcasing the immense potential the valley along the lengths of the Douro River has to offer to the world.

As many connoisseurs around Planet Wine now know, the high quality of Douro wines is indisputable. What makes the boys so successful in communicating their vision is their enthusiasm and passion.

The grapes used for the Redoma Branco originate from old vines growing on the right bank of the Douro River, at an altitude of between 400 and 600 metres. Here, the predominant grape varieties are Rabigato, Códega do Larinho, Viosinho, Donzelinho and Gouveio. The mica schist soils in which these vines thrive lend the resulting wines plenty of minerality, elegance and vibrant freshness.
